Life Through a Lens

Bright and early last Saturday morning I accompanied Heather Hudson, a local Santa Barbara Surfer, down to Rincon Point Beach and got a glimpse of her lifestyle amidst the waves. Rincon Point is approximately 15 minutes south of Santa Barbara and known world wide as one of the planet’s top surfing spots.

Heather fell in love with surfing around the age of 16 and has been going to the beach to fulfill her passion every day since then. In 2009 she produced the surfing documentary, Women and the Waves that premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. The documentary tells the stories of female surfers from all over the world and follows their captivating and inspiring adventures. Rain or shine, Heather can be seen surfing the early morning waves at Rincon Point every day. She says “The older I get, the stronger my need to be in the water…
